How do I save where I parked?
Tap "I Parked Here." That is the whole thing. If you want to add a note or set a meter timer first, tap "Add a note or timer" instead.
Where did the button go?
The main button changes with where you are standing. Away from your car it says "Find My Car." Standing next to your car it says "Got My Car," which clears the pin so you are ready to park somewhere new. If you drove somewhere else and parked again, tap "Park Here."
The arrow is greyed out and will not point anywhere.
That means iPhone's compass does not have a reading it trusts yet, usually from being near metal or magnets. Hold the phone flat and move it in a figure eight. The distance and the map still work while you wait.
Do I have to keep the app open for the meter reminder?
No. The reminder is delivered by iOS even when the app is closed and your phone is locked. If notifications are turned off for Pin My Car, the parked screen tells you so, because the reminder cannot arrive without them.
Can it save my spot without me tapping anything?
Yes. Turn on "Save my spot automatically" in Settings. It notices when CarPlay or your car stereo disconnects, and when you arrive somewhere after driving. iOS only lets an app do this if your location permission is set to Always, so it will ask for that. Nothing leaves your phone either way, and you can leave the feature off and keep tapping the button.
What's free and what's Pro?
Saving your spot, finding your car, the notes, and the meter reminder are free and are staying free. Pin My Car Pro is a one-time $1.99 purchase that opens up parking history: your last hundred spots with dates, notes, and walking directions back to any of them. The app records that list either way, so it is already waiting for you when you unlock it, and you can erase it at any time from Settings without paying anything.
How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new device?
Open Settings in the app and tap "Already bought it? Restore." It is also on the Pro screen.
How do I delete my parking history?
Open Settings from the gear icon on the map, then tap "Clear parking history" under Privacy. This works whether or not you have Pro. It is erased from your phone, and there is no copy anywhere else. Pro users can also tap Clear on the History screen.
Is my location sent anywhere?
No. Pin My Car has no account, no server, and no analytics. Where you park is written to your iPhone and stays there. See the privacy policy.
